Yaupon is a type of holly and is North America’s only native tea plant and the only edible caffeinated plant indigenous to the Southeast.
Used by Native Americans, it is high in antioxidants and theobromine, which is the same euphoric substance in dark chocolate. And it's slightly lower in caffeine than black or green tea.
To brew, use boiling water and steep for about 5 minutes.
Tea drinking in China dates back to more than 4,000 years ago. Camellia sinensis (tea) leaves are minimally processed to remain delicately aromatic and naturally stimulating.
